ENOUGH

This isn't the first time someone has said "enough".  Sadly, it may not be the last.  But here we are again.

I usually don't chime in too much on political or otherwise charged issues - though those who know me know I've got an opinion for sure!

And I know that when things outside of us become overwhelming, the knee-jerk response may be to act outwards - to fix - to change - to perhaps get angry - and just say, "enough is enough is enough already".  I'm not saying those aren't all valid and sometimes very helpful responses.  Certainly, I have found myself feeling all of those things at various times throughout my life, and especially have been challenged with them recently.

But immediately I shift focus, and know that even if outside happenings and circumstances are maddening, I must look inside to not only handle my feelings, but also react responsibly and get to a place where I can contribute in a positive way.

Today the song "Man in the Mirror" by Michael Jackson came to mind right away.  It's true, you know.  There is so much all of us who strive for peace and love really want to see shift.  Although you may feel that what you do individually may not have a huge impact, I want to encourage you, especially today, and know that it does!  What you do matters.  What you do as an individual makes a ripple on the ocean we're all in, and can have a real and meaningful impact.

That fact gives me hope and helps me stay positive - and to focus on what I can do.  It also comes with a knowing responsibility though.  Through my work and the way I endeavor to lead my own life, I strive to be a voice that speaks for love and kindness, that doesn't have room for fear-based choices and lifts up those who move forward with their own incredible, loving messages.  This isn't always easy, but it's necessary, and far better than the alternative.

These children speaking out now are especially inspiring to me.  They remind me that just one voice does matter.  And that collectively we can and will make a difference.

And as we move forward, one day at a time, I'm wondering:

What inspires you?  What will you do?

Now, more than ever, let's see it done.
